Questions for The Landlady

Don't forget to use our answers format!

1. Find the definition of foreshadowing. Post it. This story is full of foreshadowing, can you think of an example? 

2. How is foreshadowing different than inference? How is it the same? Give an example of inference in this story.

Q. Did the children mean to leave Margot in the closet, or did they only forget about her in their excitement? Use evidence from the story to support your point of view.

They only left Margot in there because they forgot about her in their happiness because when the sun has gone away then they remember about Margot and are ashamed that they left her in there when the sun came out in the last 7 years. "They stood as if someone had driven them, like so many stakes, into the floor. They looked at each other and then looked away: They glanced out at the world that was raining now and raining and raining steadily. They could not meet each other’s glances. Their faces were solemn and pale."This quote shows that they are ashamed and can't look at each others eyes. This shows that they understand that the sun meant much more to her than to them and they had taken it away from her.
