Long and golden they wait patiently to be devoured, singly or by the handful.
But don’t wait! or the crispness will fade, becoming soggy like a newspaper in the rain.
To the touch hot, like the red embers of a fire.
Pop it in your mouth, if it’s too long break it in half.
It burns, twice. The hot oil and the saltiness together making a sharp pleasant pair of invaders
Your tounge and teeth break it and a new experience occurs
More hot, but now with a softness, like the startchy inside of a pillow
Take the next one and dip it in the thick red oozing goo
Now the crisp and burn have brought a friend; sharp, and tangy sweet
Can I dip it in the marble-white, soft thickness next?
Smooth and salty, crsip and soft
